Ready, Set, Fundraise...

If you are checking this blog right now it is probably because you received a friendly little please-donate-to-my-hike-fund letter from me recently. After sending the letters through the post this morning, I decided that I really should write something on this blog. Honestly, I do not yet have much to report, but here goes nothing…

No matter where you are, I am sure that you have noticed a slight change in the air. The birds are chirping in the morning hours while the crickets claim the night. The rays of the sun are shining brightly enough now to warm your face. For the past month I have been itching to plant some pepper, tomato, chive, and basil seeds on my back deck. Those that are privy to my obsessive mumbling have responded with a patient, “Well, you should probably wait until after the last frost...” I am sure, though, that most of you can sympathize. Whether it is shopping for grills, dusting off flip-flops, or throwing open the windows spring is definitely upon us. Now that the weather has turned warmer, I can explore some of the scenic and extensive trails of Eastern Massachusetts. Besides a sprinkling of hikes and walks during the colder months, I have not had much of an opportunity to break in my comfy hiking boots. I recently coordinated my personal calendar with the various Wilderness Heals practice hikes. I also flipped through my trusty Massachusetts hiking book to pencil in any remaining weekends. Undoubtedly, a number of you will be recruited to come along so keep your cell phones at the ready and your date books clear…
